CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

Enrichment Programmes

Enrichment programmes are designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and talents of your children over and above the early foundation skills covered in the kindergarten programme. Such enriched experiences will give them a head-start that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.

ENGLISH (PHONICS & CREATIVE WRITING)

Letterland, a successful phonics based UK system, is adopted for teaching the English Language. The secret of its success lies in its pictogram characters, set in a delightful place called Letterland. Through storytelling, the characters talk about the sounds they make, and why their sounds vary in different context. It provides fun and creative ways to help children learn how to read, write and spell with confidence. It is used by leading pre-schools in Singapore and other parts of the world.

ENGLISH READING PROGRAMME

The comprehensive programme covers the foundation (Level 1 & 2) for children’s formal introduction to reading and language, and progresses gradually (Level 3 & 4) into more structured approach to reading, language and study skills. This will help children develop a life-long love for reading.

EARLY MATHEMATICS

Children will be exposed and taught in these five important parts of mathematics which include Numbers; Geometry and Spatial Relations; Measurements; Patterns and Data Analysis, and hence set the foundation for all future mathematics skills and learning.

ABACUS

The abacus is an invaluable educational tool that goes beyond just teaching numbers. It fosters a wide range of cognitive skills, including enhanced concentration, memory retention, problem-solving, and critical thinking, which all contribute to a child’s overall academic growth. By tailoring lessons to each child’s learning pace and providing an engaging, hands-on experience, the abacus offers a holistic approach to learning that sets the stage for a lifetime of success in both mathematics and beyond.

SCIENCE RANGER

Kids at computers

This programme employs hands-on activities for children to connect science to real-life scenarios. Hands-on activities allow children to learn through experimentations, observations and deductions which lead to the development of multiple intelligences and evolvement of the highest form of understanding.

CREATIVE ART & CRAFT

The programme aims to develop children’s drawing and colouring foundation. It also focuses on their fine motor skills, self-confidence and aesthetics development. As children develop a sense of aesthetics, they begin to recognize the importance of patterns, arrangements, proportions, use of light and colours and even themes as they pertain to art as a form of communication. Exposing your children to art & craft early can thus nurture their creativity, imagination and cognitive skills.

This program offers children the opportunity to enhance their computational thinking by breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps through decomposition, recognizing patterns and sequences, and using abstract thinking to simplify real-world problems. By creating and following step-by-step algorithms to control robots, children develop logical and methodical thinking. These skills significantly improve their problem-solving abilities, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and logical reasoning. As a result, children are better equipped to approach challenges in an organized manner, boosting their overall learning and adaptability to new concepts.
