Cedan Kindergarten & Child Development Centre (“Cedan”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal data in accordance with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, protect, retain and otherwise manage personal data when you interact with us, including through our website.

This Policy applies to personal data collected through our website, enquiry channels and related interactions with parents, guardians, prospective families, families, visitors and other individuals. It should be read together with any specific notices or consent forms that we may provide for particular activities, including the use of photographs and videos of children.

1. Personal Data We May Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect personal data such as:

  • Your name, title and contact details, including telephone number, email address and postal address.
  • Information you submit through our enquiry or contact forms, including the subject and contents of your message.
  • Information relating to your child that you choose to provide, such as the child’s name, age, programme interests or other information relevant to an enquiry, admission or school visit.
  • Photographs, video recordings or other images of children, parents, guardians, staff or visitors, where applicable and where the required consent or other lawful basis applies.
  • Information relating to enrolment, school tours, programmes, events and communications with Cedan.
  • Technical and usage information generated when you use our website, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring pages, date/time information and cookie or similar technology identifiers.
  • Any other personal data that you voluntarily provide to us or that we are permitted or required to collect under applicable law.

Please do not submit NRIC/FIN numbers, financial information, medical information or other sensitive information through the general website enquiry form unless specifically requested for a legitimate purpose.

2. Purposes for Which We Collect, Use and Disclose Personal Data

We may collect, use and disclose personal data for purposes that are reasonable and appropriate in the circumstances, including to:

  • Respond to enquiries, requests and feedback.
  • Provide information about our programmes, curriculum, admissions, enrolment, school visits, events and services.
  • Arrange tours, appointments, meetings and follow-up communications requested by you.
  • Process and administer applications, enrolment and the provision of childcare and educational services.
  • Communicate with parents, guardians and families about administrative, educational, safety or operational matters.
  • Manage our relationship with prospective and enrolled families.
  • Operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot and improve our website, systems and services.
  • Understand website usage and performance through analytics and aggregated statistics.
  • Maintain safety and security, prevent misuse, investigate incidents and protect our rights and those of others.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, directions, codes and requests from lawful authorities.
  • Carry out other purposes that we notify you of or obtain the time of collection, or for which we obtain consent where required.

3. Consent and Withdrawal of Consent

Where consent is required under the PDPA, we will seek consent for the collection, use or disclosure of personal data for the relevant purpose. In some circumstances, consent may be deemed or another exception under applicable law may apply.

You may withdraw consent for future collection, use or disclosure of personal data by contacting us at the details in Section 14. We may explain any likely consequences of withdrawal before processing the request. Withdrawal will not affect collection, use or disclosure that has already taken place before the withdrawal is effective, or where continued processing is permitted or required by law.

4. Photographs and Videos of Children

We may take photographs or videos during classroom activities, celebrations, performances, excursions, school events or other activities. Because identifiable images of children can constitute personal data, we take particular care with their use.

Where required, we will obtain appropriate consent from a parent or legal guardian before using identifiable photographs or videos of a child for purposes such as the Cedan website, school publications, newsletters, publicity or promotional materials, or official social media channels.

Parents and guardians may contact us if they have questions about the use of their child’s image or wish to withdraw consent for future use. We will take reasonable steps to stop future use after the withdrawal becomes effective, subject to applicable law and practical limitations relating to materials already published, distributed or otherwise used before withdrawal.

We may also use images that do not identify an individual, or use images where the relevant use is otherwise permitted by law.

5. Website Enquiry and Contact Forms

When you submit an enquiry through our website, we may collect your title, name, email address, telephone number, subject and message, together with technical information related to browser or form submission.

We use this information primarily to receive, manage and respond to your enquiry and to provide information or follow up reasonably connected with your request. We may retain enquiry records for an appropriate period for service, administrative, security and record-keeping purposes.

Please provide only information that is reasonably necessary for your enquiry. If you provide personal data about another person, including a child, you should be authorised to provide that information to us.

7. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors interact with our website and to improve its performance and content. Google Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser information, referral source, interactions with the website and other usage information through cookies or similar technologies.

Google’s processing is subject to its own terms and privacy practices. We do not use Google Analytics as a means to intentionally collect confidential information about children through our general website pages.

You may limit analytics cookies through available cookie controls, your browser settings or tools made available by Google, where applicable.

8. Third-Party Services and Links

Our website may contain links to, or functionality from, third-party services such as Google Maps, WhatsApp or other external websites and services. When you interact with a third-party service, that third party may collect or process information under its own privacy policy and terms.

10. Overseas Transfers

Some of our service providers or technology services, including analytics, hosting, cloud, email or other online services, may process or store personal data outside Singapore.

Where the PDPA applies to a transfer of personal data outside Singapore, we will take steps required under applicable law to ensure that the transferred personal data receives a standard of protection comparable to that under the PDPA, subject to the applicable exceptions.

11. Protection and Security

When personal data no longer serves those purposes, we will cease to retain it or remove the means by which it can be associated with particular individuals, where reasonably practicable and as required by applicable law.

13. Access and Correction

Subject to the PDPA and applicable exceptions, you may request access to personal data about you that is in our possession or under our control, and information about how that data has been used or disclosed during the period prescribed by law. You may also request correction of personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete.

We may need to verify your identity and may require sufficient information to process your request. Where permitted by law, a reasonable fee may apply to an access request. If so, we will inform you of the estimated fee before processing the request.
